For me, I call them 30 Day Improvement Sprints and I run them with some simple rules. I think it's the focus and the theme of improvement that make the difference ... a little bit each day. What helps me the most is to journal as I go and use a mentor along the way to put some great insights into practice. The other trick I learned is to do them monthly. My understanding is that if you practice something for 21 days it becomes a habit (maybe I got that from Covey??). The key is to practice. I'm working on listening.
