The 2008 Top 100 Leadership Thought Leaders

The Leadership Excellence magazine has published their list of the 100 top thought leaders in management and leadership. The gurus who make the list possess a rare combination of the following eight traits and abilities:

  1. Preparation: academic and professional.
  2. Character: values, ethics, beliefs, purpose, mission, integrity, walk the talk.
  3. Principles: big message, point of view, tenets, main points.
  4. Personality: charisma, style, originality, authenticity, one of a kind.
  5. Performance: inspiring action, real-world performance, work ethic.
  6. Experience: beyond local and regional, more national and international.
  7. Expression: substance and style in writing, speaking, coaching, consulting, mentoring, training, or teaching.
  8. Influence: difference, results, change, transformation.

Overall a great list of leadership gurus. It’s worthwhile taking some time to explore some of the books written by the top 20 on Amazon.

In addition to the wonderful books published by the top, a few additional ones to consider include:

The Leaders Voice by Ron Crossland & Unleashed by Susanne Biro and Gregg Thompson published by Select Books.

Sorry to say, but this list suffers from a disasterous crediblity gap by not listing Henry Mintzberg.
