“Leadership is about creating a domain in which human beings continually deepen their understanding of reality and become more capable of participating in the unfolding world. Ultimately, leadership is about creating new realities.” – Peter Senge

The Leadership Insight

Leaders need to have a clear grasp of current reality, but most leaders seem to have a difficult time facing reality. Leaders tend to rationalise, justify and defend their existing decisions and thinking, in doing so they loose touch with reality. This limits a leaders effectiveness and their ability to adapt to the changing environment. It’s important for leaders to remain open and develop an understanding of reality. Leaders need a grasp on reality, not to get stuck into a problem solving orientation but, because a good understanding of current reality, helps leaders to adapt and leverage situations as they unfold to bring about their vision, creating a new reality.
